PJ Library sends Jewish children in Fairfield County—and around the world—a free Jewish-themed book each month. The Federation-funded program is designed to strengthen the bonds between parents and children through stories about our traditions and values, and to build their connection to the Jewish community.
Federation currently sends nearly 600 books a month! The same titles that are read by Jewish children around the world at the same time. PJ Library sends over 670,000 books a month to 36 countries, including Israel. Learn more about PJ Library and enroll your children here.
If you are interested in supporting PJ Library’s work across Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien, you can donate here.
What does PJ stand for?
Pajamas! These books are meant to be read together before bed—a special time when parents and children read, dance, and sing together.
Who is eligible?
Families who fit the following three criteria:
- Have children under 9 years old
- Are raising their children with Judaism as a part of their lives
- Currently reside in Stamford, New Canaan, or Darien
If you have a child that is between the ages of 9-12, they can sign up for their own books through PJ Our Way.
And it's completely free?
Yes! The PJ Library® is generously supported by two local anonymous donors, Federation, and The Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
Can I sign up my grandchildren who live outside of our area?
Visit the PJ Library site to find out if it is offered in their community and to sign them up
If the program is not offered in their location, gift subscriptions are available for just $60 per year
