Mitzvah Projects

Give a Mitzvah, Do A Mitzvah  is a resource for young adult mitzvah projects and charity (tzedakah) opportunities. Federation is here to help children in Fairfield County develop a hands-on social action project, and/or raise  funds to support a cause of their choice.

Whether the project is part of synagogue requirements for bar/bat mitzvahs or you are interested in supporting your child’s interest in social action, a Mitzvah Project is a meaningful way to engage your child and your whole family, around some of the most important Jewish values: repairing the world (tikkun olam) and compassion for others (v’ahavta l’rayecha kamocha). It is also a way to show children from a young age that their hobbies and interests can be fostered by getting involved with the Jewish community of Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien.

To find the perfect project, we start by learning about your child’s hobbies, interests, and what you are most passionate about.

The first step we ask children to take is asking themselves these questions:

  1. What am I good at?
  2. What do I like to do?
  3. What is a big problem in the world that bothers me?
  4. What do I want to do to change it?
  5. Who can I ask to help me?
