United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan and Darien (UJF) is a proud partner of the Seed the Dream Foundation.
In 2019 a national initiative was launched to support thousands of Holocaust survivors across the United States. Recognizing the importance of reaching every survivor, Seed the Dream Foundation partnered with KAVOD (an organization dedicated to helping Holocaust survivors in the U.S. live with dignity) to establish the KAVOD Survivors of the Holocaust Emergency Fund (SHEF).
KAVOD SHEF exponentially multiplies the dollars and vital services directly reaching survivors in need. Leveraging the funds raised through a philanthropic national matching initiative with local Federations, KAVOD SHEF works together with communities across the United States to bring millions of additional dollars to the survivor community.
Since 2020, United Jewish Federation has been a KAVOD SHEF partner. With Schoke Jewish Family Service (Schoke JFS) being the organization to assess the needs and provide the services, UJF raises the necessary funds which are matched one-to-one by KAVOD SHEF.
100% of KAVOD SHEF funds raised are directed toward emergency services for survivors not ordinarily covered by the Claims Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany or other survivor funding. Urgent and critical emergency services eligible for coverage through KAVOD SHEF include:
– Dental
– Vision
– Food
– Emergency Medical Services
– Emergency Homecare
– Emergency Transportation
– Urgent Home Services (Emergency Utilities, Home Repairs, and Rent Support)
“Schoke JFS is grateful to UJF for raising the necessary funds to leverage this match. With this funding, we have been able to help with the related needs of this aging population. This is a wonderful example of our community working together,” shared Matt Greenberg, President and CEO at Schoke JFS.
