As the local and diverse Jewish community strives for connectedness and belonging, United Jewish Federation’s Women’s Philanthropy has spearheaded a reboot to bring women together in meaningful and productive ways. A thoughtful brainstorming session was held to discuss Women's Philanthropy and how it can impact UJF and the broader community.
A key component of this cohort is doing good (Chesed) for our community, while incorporating the Jewish values of Tikun Olam (repairing the world). Ongoing projects have included Dignity Grows and 3SQUARE, and David’s Treasure Closet has been an annual event to stock the children’s unit at Stamford hospital with toys for patients.
On an educational and social level, Women’s Philanthropy has hosted an annual Spring Dinner, speakers, an educational day and more.
Moving forward Women’s Philanthropy will host smaller scale events, drawing those with varied interest. These “Salon” events, hosted in private homes, will source female talent and expertise from our community, creating a more intimate setting for like-minded women to interact.
Women’s Philanthropy will host its first “Salon” on August 6, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The Salon will feature founder and creative director of Procode Dress, Lilach Porges, and Elina Furman, founder of ORA Magazine and Kahlmi, as the guest speakers. Space is limited, so visit www.ujf.org/WPSalon to register.
