Honoring Holocaust Survivors

On June 4, the Schoke Jewish Family Service (JFS) Anachnu program hosted Holocaust Survivor Day at Congregation Agudath Sholom, with around 70 guests in attendance, including survivors aged 80 to 99. The day was filled with profound moments of reflection and celebration, as everyone came together to honor the strength, resilience, and legacy of these individuals.

“Holocaust survivors were treated to live music by Leon Skolnik, which led to a lot of dancing and joy, followed by a kosher lunch. But it was the spirit of community that truly defined the day, bringing people together to acknowledge the immense sacrifices and stories of survival that shape the shared Jewish history,” said Marina Sapir, Anachnu Program Manager at Schoke JFS.

Schoke JFS extends gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who provided invaluable support, from driving survivors to the event, to greeting and serving guests and a special thank you to Congregation Agudath Sholom and United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien for their generous support in making this meaningful event possible.

Through the Anachnu program, Schoke JFS remains devoted to supporting Holocaust survivors and seniors within the community, ensuring their voices are heard and their legacies honored.
