Families Take to the Trails

By Melanie Vorm

More than 30 participants from the PJ Library and the NextGen community recently gathered for a nature walk and scavenger hunt at Bristow Sanctuary and Wildwood Preserve in New Canaan’s Mead Memorial Park.

Families followed wooded trails through the preserve, with children eagerly checking off frogs, insects, birdhouses, and other items from their scavenger hunt lists. The walk offered families a chance to spend time together outdoors while meeting others from the community in a relaxed setting.

The morning ended at The Apple Cart Café, where attendees were treated to ice cream for a sweet finish.

Julia Linsner, a member of the NextGen community, attended with her niece and nephew.“They had such a great time exploring the trails and checking things off their list,” Linsner said. “It was such a fun, low-key way to spend time together outdoors.”
