United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien (UJF) has, for some time, been receiving requests for interesting ways to connect Jewishly. For many years, UJF has brought many different groups together that share common interests. These include Women’s Philanthropy, NextGen (Jews in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s), affinity groups relating to legal, business and medical interests, empty nesters, grandparents, and more. Additionally, this has expanded over time to include gatherings in micro-communities of Shippan and North Stamford.
“We are always looking to create community,” shared UJF Deputy Director Eric Ross, "so when approached with the idea to bring all the local synagogues’ men’s clubs together, it seemed like a great idea.” On Thursday evening, November 20, UJF, the CAS Men's Club of Congregation Agudath Sholom, the Men’s Club of Temple Beth El, and the Brotherhood of Temple Sinai, will be hosting a Men’s Whiskey Tasting (with at least one Israeli whiskey) and a sampling of local kosher chocolates.
Joe Feuerstein, one of the event organizers and a member of all three synagogues involved said, “Given what has happened in Israel over the last two years and the massive rise in antisemitism world-wide, it is imperative for Jews of every religious background and denomination to come together. This will be a celebration of joy and friendship, and a recognition that we are all one people!”
Whether you belong to one of these men’s clubs or not, all are welcome to come together to make new friends and have an enjoyable evening. The event will begin at 7:30 pm at Temple Sinai (458 Lakeside Drive, Stamford). Early-bird tickets are $20 per person through November 1, and then $25 per person thereafter.
