United Jewish Federation’s annual campaign launch featured Five for Fighting’s singer, songwriter and pianist John Ondraisik, whose song “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” was nominated for a Grammy award. The event was chaired by Hannah and Daniel Blonsheyn, Lisa and Jeff Manheim, and Wendy and Jared Siegel.
Through stories and music, John shared his passion for causes including Afghanistan, Ukraine, and now Israel, relaying details about his first trip to Israel, shortly after October 7, 2023 and how he has written songs for the hostages and performed in Hostage Square.
Linda Selig, of the White Rose Society, presented John a white rose, given to honor non-Jews who have stood up for the Jewish people in meaningful ways. David Gordon, past UJF President, was honored with offering John the traditional Priestly Blessing.
The evening also honored our local community superheroes who keep our organizations running and continue to keep us connected in a time where this is so desperately needed.
