As we near the two-year anniversary of the atrocities of October 7, 2023 the community will gather in remembrance and solidarity to observe the date. The commemoration will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 7:00 pm at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford.
United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien (UJF) the Stamford Board of Rabbis, UJA-JCC, the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County, and AJC (American Jewish Committee) invite the community to join in commemorating the tragic events of October 7, as well as the need to come together to find strength in community.
“This gathering will focus on light, faith, and survival and will honor the lives lost, and the hostages that still have not come home. Our greatest strength is coming together,” shares UJF CEO Diane Sloyer.
This year’s commemoration features Micha Biton, a pioneer in the ethnic-rock genre of Israeli music. Micha’s mesmerizing concert “From Sderot to Jerusalem” uses anecdotes and song to tell the story of his childhood as a refugee. Today, Micha performs sold-out concerts in Israel’s most popular venues and is traveling the world, both solo and with his band. On October 7, Micha spent 13 hours in a safe room with his family in Netiv Ha’asara, a Gaza border community. During their heroic evacuation, he grabbed his beloved guitar and now shares his story through music - one of light, faith, and survival.
