During the academic year, 3SQUARE, a program of United Jewish Federation, provides “in-need” elementary school-aged children in Stamford with a bag of food to sustain them through the weekend, when they don’t have access to school lunches. Most of these children are chronically hungry and don’t have regular access to food. The bags, designed for discreet tucking into backpacks, contain a variety of healthy foods such as shelf-stable milk and cheese, dried fruits, granola bars, beans, soups, fruit and pudding cups, beef jerky, cereal, juice boxes, tuna, and crackers. Volunteer shop weekly at the local food bank and supplement the bag with fresh fruit.
3SQUARE has been feeding the hungry for 11 years and during the 2024-25 academic year supplied 52 bags a week to children in need. This impactful project is funded by a generous grant from the Claire Friedlander Foundation.
