Rabbi Blau was appointed Mashgiach Ruchani (spiritual guidance counselor) at RIETS in 1977. Rabbi Blau is also the spiritual guidance counselor for students at the University's undergraduate schools and colleges for men. In communal life, Rabbi Blau served as national president of Yavneh, the National Religious Jewish Students Association, and as a member of that organization's National Advisory Board. He also served as vice president of the National Conference of Yeshiva Principals.
