For some children, two days off from school means two days of going hungry. 3 SQUARE changes lives by providing food to children in Fairfield County who are at risk of going hungry over weekends during the school year.

52% of Stamford students are eligible for free and reduced priced meals at school. 1 in 5 children in Connecticut is hungry or food insecure, with school meals being their main food source.

During the academic year, 3 SQUARE provides “in-need” elementary school-aged children in Stamford with a bag of food to sustain them through the weekend. Most of these children are chronically hungry and don’t have regular access to food.
The bags, designed to discreetly tuck into backpacks, will contain a variety of healthy foods such as: shelf-stable milk and cheese, dried fruits, granola bars, beans, soups, fruit and pudding cups, beef jerky, cereal, juice boxes, tuna, and crackers.

The 3 SQUARE volunteer program runs on teamwork! Here are some ways you can volunteer:

  1. Go on shopping trips to purchase food with donations contributed to 3 SQUARE
  2. Meet weekly to shop, bag, and deliver food to community schools
