The Herbert and Sarah M. Gibor Reading Partners Program is a program of dedicated volunteer tutors, sponsored by the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien, and is an affiliate of the National Jewish Coalition for Literacy.  Working one-on-one with young students from kindergarten through third grade, each volunteer devotes at least one hour a week through the school year, spending a half-hour weekly with each of two young students who need a boost in reading skills.  The program offers tutor training, literacy focused workshops and an extensive leadership support network. We provide a handbook and additional support throughout the school year.  Our volunteers  possess a love of children and the desire to nuture their curious young minds.

Our program began with 13 volunteers in two schools in 1999.  We currently have over 140 volunteer tutors and programs in 13 locations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford, Domus/Chester Addison Community Center and 11 Stamford elementary schools.

We always welcome new tutors!
